Breaking the cycle of poverty through education

Hello!

Welcome to the Bandari Project!

The Bandari Project is a not for profit organisation helping to break the cycle of poverty by providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children and women in Mto wa Mbu, Tanzania.

At our school we offer a safe and engaging learning experience to children who normally wouldn’t have access to schooling.

We also work with women living in difficult circumstances, giving them opportunities in education and agriculture.

Getting Involved

Sponsor a Student

We are a registered charity and 100% of donations go directly to the project. There are no administration fees!

Sponsoring a Student

Sponsoring a Bandari student will provide  them all the necessities needed to attend school. There are many local children who don’t attend the school simply because they do not have access to these basics, like shoes, clothes and a school bag. But this is so easy to change!

For only $25/month or $300/year, you can help give a child the amazing gift of a quality education!

Making a Donation

With 5 classes and over 100 students, the Bandari Project is growing every year.  As we continue to develop, there is always more building and work that needs to be done.  We need to raise a minimum of $60,000 (AUD) a year so we can continue to grow, pay staff and cover running costs.

We’re a registered charity and 100% of  donations go directly to the project.

our students say

“I love coming to school because I love reading and learning new things. I also love playing games with the teachers and my friends, especially football!”

– Samwel, 10

Stories from the classroom

We’re so proud

Bernard - Class One

Bernard is flying along in his mathematics and reading!

He can recognise all the letters of the alphabet, as well as reading 2 letter words. He loves his mathematics as well, and has been having fun with addition and getting correct answers in tens.

But…when playtime comes around his favourite thing to do is to run around the yard with the tyres. Such a great way to burn off all that energy!

Bahati - Kindergarten

Bahati would like to be a chef when she grows up, and we can see she’s off to a great start. She’s an active student in the classroom and always one of the first to raise her hand to answer questions, she clearly has a passion for learning!

Being at the Bandari Project is giving Bahati assurance of healthy food and a quality education, 2 things which, she wouldn’t have access to otherwise.

Mary - Class 4

We’ve had reports from Mary’s teacher that she has made big improvements in her handwriting, reading AND in mathematics!

She is a great listener and is attentive in class, and has performed so well that she finished top of the class after last term’s exams!

For less than the cost of a latte a day you can change a child’s life!

Get Involved

We love volunteers, whether from home or by joining us on our next trip to Tanzania, there are many ways for you to get involved here at The Bandari Project!
